Google Voice Blog: Port your existing mobile number to Google Voice

Google Voice has finally introduced number porting to it's popular phone service. According to the Google Voice Blog:

"One of the most frequent requests we hear from people who use (or want to use) Google Voice is that they’d like to get all of Google Voice’s features without having to give up their long-time phone numbers.

Today, we’re excited to announce that Number Porting is available for all existing Google Voice users. This means you can make the mobile number you’ve always used your Google Voice number, so it can ring any phone you want—or even your computer."

Google News Aplenty!

We're really excited to see Google's efforts in the OS space with the upcoming Chrome OS. It looks like a compelling product for the light internet user. If priced right, it could be a great companion to a home desktop or larger laptop. Nevertheless the speedup in the browser and the app store are enough to pique our interest now. It's going to be an interesting 2011. Check out the full piece on ChromeOS over at Slashgear.

Also outed recently was a Motorola tablet device running the next version of Android. From the video one can see it being a real iPad competitor. Offline maps and new intuitive interface are just the tip of the iceberg here. The specs under the hood are just as impressive with a dual core mobile processor and nVidia graphics.
